Meditation and Awareness Facilitation
What is meditation?
Meditation is a variety of techniques that train our attention and awareness; these techniques have been shown to have a positive effect on our overall health and wellbeing. In essence, meditation turns our attention away from the noisy chatter and distracting thoughts of the mind, towards states that can bring inner stillness and nourishment. Meditation can also be considered to be a form of brain training or a self- reflective lens. For some people it is a spiritual practise; connecting to a sense of something greater than themselves
Why meditate?
With practise, meditation can bring inner calmness, enhanced clarity and joy. It can help cultivate compassion, emotional and mental resilience and reduce reactivity as well as reveal undiscovered aspects of self and bring new experiences.
Learning to meditate is a skill
Like learning any skill, it takes practise and patience, and often requires external support and guidance. Turning our attention inwards may sounds simple; but it can be incredibly challenging. We may be easily distracted by thoughts and emotions, feel overwhelmed, find it hard to stay focused or find all of life’s demands and busyness constantly get in the way.
I offer one on one guided meditations and tailored programs to suit your needs and aspirations from beginners to more experienced meditators, as well as addressing the blocks and patterns that inhibit and keep us from stillness.
We may address nervous system regulation and bring in tools to bring your nervous system back to a regulated state to assist your process.
What is awareness facilitation?
Cultivating awareness is somewhat akin to bringing the skills of meditation into daily life. Rather than only being self aware and making space for ourselves when sitting in meditation once a day, we can learn to activate self-awareness in everyday situations, relationships and at work.
With awareness during our daily activities, we are not trying to turn off thoughts and feeling, instead learning to observe and understand them, as well as paying attention to our nervous system and body sensations. We can begin to see our patterns and habits more clearly and expand our sense of reality beyond our usual mode of operating. Growing awareness aids in being fully engaged in whatever we are doing in the present moment. These skills also enable access to our own inner world, drawing attention to our often hidden inner needs and wants.
What are the benefits?
Developing awareness leads increasingly towards harmony between your inner and outer worlds and an enlarged sense of self. I offer guidance and support to facilitate the growing of your awareness.
